Last week, the [email protected] panel for Dragon Ball surprised fans with the announcement of the official title of the next Dragon Ball Super movie, Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, and executive producers of the series and the upcoming movie, Akio Iyoku and Norihiro Hayashida as well as Japanese Goku voice actress Masako Nozawa showed up to share the first teaser and give fans their first look at the character designs for the upcoming film.
Three familiar characters are confirmed to appear in the film : Piccolo, Krillin, and a grown-up Pan, but the panel revealed one never-before-seen character. Here's the screen grab from the Dragon Ball Comic-Con panel:
According to Hayashida, the animation of the upcoming film is based on Akira Toriyama's original art, but they didn't reveal the name or any other details about this character.
Iyoku added, "Since this is a new character, I think it would be fun to imagine its nature. Toriyama-sensei has blessed us with immense amounts of artwork like this".
This character reminds me of the Dragon Ball Z villain, Cell, but this one looks like he has ties to the Galactic Patrol as he is shown having a space gun. As the title suggests, the film will have a super hero theme, and this character has a cape so he might be one of the super heroes featured in the film. He might also be a villain in the movie, but at this point, who knows?
