As Dragon Ball approches its 40th anniversary, Shonen Jump is ready to celebrate Akira Toriyama's popular manga series in a big way, and the creator of Bleach is going to be part of this event.
It was recently announced that Dragon Ball is launching a Super Gallery Project to celebrate its 40th anniversary, which is set to begin this month. The event will feature a different mangaka each month to redesign the cover of Toriyma's manga series. There will be a total of 42 covers, and the last one will be released around November 2024.
Twitter user WSJ_manga shared a look at the first cover art for this event, and as you can see above, it features the art from Tite Kubo, the creator of Bleach. Kubo redesigned the cover art of volume 27, and you can definitely see his signature art style that will remind Bleach fans of his popular shonen series.
Kubo's version can be seen to the left of Toriyama's original cover. As usual, Goku is seen standing in his iconic orange gi, but his features are narrower. Piccolo in the back also has a more compact physique, and Frieza is mostly covered in shadow, and the villain has a more slender frame in Kubo's illustration.
