Who is The Villain of WandaVision? Here Are The Marvel Characters Rumored to Appear

Disney and Marvel Studios have already confirmed that the upcoming WandaVision series will feature several Marvel Cinematic Unvierse characters, but there's been a lot of rumors surrounding one of the show's biggest unanswered questions: who is the main villain?

Although a large portion of the cast has been announced, Marvel has yet to reveal who Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany) are up against in the series. Here are all the Marvel Comics characters rumored to appear in WandaVision:

Grim Reaper

According to alleged plot leaks, the main antagonist of WandaVision is Grim Reaper, one of Vision's major enemies. Marvel Comics revealed that Grim Reaper is the brother of Wonder Man, the superhero whose brain patterns were used to make Vision. WandaVision may have at least been partially inspired by Tom King's Vision comic, which features Grim Reaper as the main villain.

According to a YouTube video by HN Entertainment, Grim Reaper will be played by Dominic West.

Marvel Studios hasn't confirmed if Grim Reaper will appear in the WandaVision, but it would be interesting to see the obsessive villain appear. However, since Marvel removed Wonder Man from Vision's origin story, and that no setup has been made in previous films, the studio may not go in that direction.

Mephisto

Since the WandaVision trailer dropped, there's been a lot of speculation on what's happening in the trailer. Certain details point out that Mephisto, the Evil incarnage and Hell-Lord of the Marvel universe, will either be mentioned or will make an appearance within the TV series as a secondary antagonist. In the trailer, a mysterious woman played by Kathryn Hahn (whose character name is still unknown). As Redditor DrStrangeLove explains: "Despite seeming to be another member of whatever reality Wanda is potentially manipulating, Hahn's character seems somewhat aware, especially when she tells Vision that he is actually dead. Also, at one point she is dressed as a witch. This has led to the theory that Hahn could actually be Agatha Harkness, a witch and common teacher/foe to Wanda in the comics. Not only that, but Harkness has worked alongside the demon Mephisto as well. In the comics Mephisto sort of acts like the devil of the Marvel Universe. He makes deals with other beings for a price. This leads me to believe that Wanda could have possibly made a deal with Mephisto, similar to the time he made a deal with Spider-Man in the comics to get Aunt May back from the dead."

The Redditor went on to share two possibilities of what he thought might have happened in the show:

Agatha Harkness

Set photos reveal that Hahn is dressed up like a witch, Wanda's mentor in the comics. Agatha may have moved next-door to Wanda because she knows about her potential with magic. Agatha is the elderly woman who mentored Scarlet Witch when she was living at Avengers Mansion in the 1970s. Although she's not considered a villain in the comic books, WandaVision could still reimagine her as one. After all, the show is said to be canon to the MCU.

Nightmare

In the Marvel comics, Nightmare is one of the most powerful enemies of Doctor Strange. The villain can enter people's dreams, draws his powers from their dreams, and torments his victims in their sleep. Since both WandaVision and Doctor Strange 2 will both feature Scarlet Witch, many speculating that they are connected in some way, and Nightmare could be the main villain of Doctor Strange 2. WandaVision might just tease the villain's future appearance, but it's possible that Scarlet Witch's story in WandaVision will lead to Doctor Strange 2.

Ultron

Ultron may have died in Avengers: Age of Ultron, but WandaVision may resurrect one of the greatest villains of the Avengers. No (living) character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe has a stronger connection to Ultron than Scarlet Witch, who lost her brother to him, so we might see Wanda use her reality-warping powers to bring Ultron back to life. Ultron could inadvertently be resurrected with Vision if that's how Wanda plans to bring her lover back.

Doctor Doom

According to a rumor shared by Comicbook, WandaVision will introduce the Fanastic Four villain Doctor Doom.

Sheila Knox, an actress with one credit to her name listed online, tweeted that she was having to cut her vacation short after her agent informed her that she will be cast in WandaVision. Knox then went on to tweet something more interesting: "Doomstadt! In Helen!"
Doomstadt in Helen would mean the production is posing Helen, Georgia as Victor von Doom's birthplace from the pages of Marvel Comics. Helen, Georgia is a small Bavarian town which already offers up a perfect look for the setting and would not require a tremendous amount of dressing. WandaVision is filming near Atlanta at the Pinewood Studios in Georgia, so the notion of the production taking over a small town in Helen is not farfetched.
"The quaint Bavarian town of Helen, Georgia is certainly a dead ringer for Doomstadt, the capital city of Latveria and the birthplace of Victor Von Doom and, perhaps more relevant to the story here, his mother, Cynthia Von Doom, a Romani sorceress," Charles Murphy, who first discovered the tweets, wrote. "Given the series looks to be exploring the backstory of Agatha Harkness, it's possible that it could explore other, different magic users, including Cynthia. Since we don't know the plot of WandaVision, it seems like SWORD, Agatha Harkness and, potentially, Doomstadt, are disparate ideas and we might have to wait a while to see how they all tie together, if they do at all." In the comics, Doom and Scarlet Witch have a great deal of history. The villain was interested in Wanda's reality-warping powers and chaos magic, so it's possible that Doom could be the real villain pulling the strings.
