BOOM! Studios recently acquired the comic book rights to Magic: The Gathering from Hasbro and Wizards of the Coast, and their first MTG comic, Magic, by Jed MacKay, Ig Guara, Arianna Consonni, and Ed Dukeshire, will be released this April.
During today's DailyMTG steram on Twitch.tv/magic, writer Jed MacKay and associate editor Amanda LaFranco talked about the new Magic comic book series, and although they didn't reveal any major spoilers, they confirmed that the story of the series will begin in Ravnica with the focus on the three planeswalkers: Vraska, Ral, and Kaya, but assured that other fan-favorite planeswalkers will also join the series later on. McKay teased that the comic book series will explore five planes of the Magic Multiverse, and that it's not just a spin-off of the card game's lore: there will be surprises along the way. The preview pages already revealed that Niv-Mizzet now has a gearwork body.
Alternate covers for the MTG comic book series have also been revealed during the stream, and it features Kaya, Liliana, and Sorin.
BOOM! Studios recently shared a preview of the Magic #1 Ashcan that reveals a brilliant cover art and a few pages.
