WotC hopes to expand Magic: The Gathering's story behond the game system to comics, novels, and other games, then expand the game system to let players explore worlds outside of the worlds of Magic.

According to Wizards, Universes Beyond will be branded slightly differently and the cards will have a specific frame that will be distinct and a special holofoil stamp that indicates that they're from Universes Beyond. Here's how it looks:

Looks familiar? That's because that's the same holostamp foil found in the Secret Lair X The Walking Dead drop released last year.

The Universes Beyond products will generally be sold in all MTG channels, and mentioned that the Warhammer 40,000 Commander decks everywhere Commander decks are sold, noting that the intention is to typically make Universes Beyond as available as any other MTG product.

WOTC went on to say that Universes Beyond products will not be Standard-legal, and that the Dungeons & Dragons: Adventures of the Forgotten Realms crossover Magic: The Gathering Standard-legal set scheduled to release later this year will not be part of Universes Beyond. "For now, we're reserving the Universes Beyond branding for worlds outside those built by Wizards of the Coast," WOTC said. "As to whether the Forgotten Realms are now canonically part of Magic's Multiverse, for now, the answer is no. But we may change our minds in the future if it makes sense and is a fun net positive for Magic and D&D.

Additionally, during today's investor call, Hasbro also shared updates for the upcoming Dungeons & Dragons live-action film, the Magic: The Gathering film, and the upcoming MTG animated series for Netflix.
