Kaldheim Leak Reveals New Black Boardwipe Snow Sorcery

WIzards of the Coast will reveal more Magic: The Gathering cards from the upcoming Norse mythology-inspired set, Kaldheim today, but before fans get to see some official previews, one more card has been leaked recently, and it confirms the return of the Snow mechanic introduced in 2006's Coldsnap.

The card is called Blood on the Snow, a black Snow Sorcery that lets you either "Destroy all creatures" or "Destroy all planeswalkers. It also lets you return a creature or planeswalker card with converted mana cost X or less where X is the amount of snow mana spent to cast this spell. Black needs a strong boardwipe in Standard, and although this is no Damnation level, this could be a game-changing Sorcery if you need to clear the board and have enough snow mana to bring back a creature or planeswalker. This card also looks solid in Commander. Being able to destroy all creatures or planeswalkers in the board is great for six mana with the resurrection bonus.

Be sure to check out all the leaked Kaldheim cards so far, and all the cards officially revealed during the Week of Metal sneak peek last month.

Kaldheim is set to release on February 5, 2021 for tabletop, and Jan. 28 on Magic Arena and Magic Online. The set will be followed by Strixhaven: School of Mages, which is set to release sometime in Spring 2021.
