Kaldheim Commander Decklists & New Magic: The Gathering Cards Revealed


Wizards of the Coast has already revealed all the new Magic: The Gathering cards from the upcoming Norse mythology-inspired set, Kaldheim, and today the company has revealed the exclusive cards from the two Kaldheim Commander decks.

The two Kaldheim Commander decks are called Phantom Premonition and Elven Empire, and each of the two decks will feature eight new Kaldheim cards including the Commanders: Ranar, the Ever-Watchful and Lathril, Blade of the Elves.

Phantom Premonition

The blue/white Kaldheim Commander deck Phantom Premonition features Ranar, the Ever-Watchful as the Commander. The legendary Spirit Warrior with flying and vigilance lets you foretell for 0 if it's the first card you fortell in each turn. The card also lets you create a 1/1 white Spirit token with flying if you exile one or more cards from your hand and/or permanents on the battlefield. It looks like the deck features a lot of cards that have enter-the-battlefield effects, exile effects, and a good mix of midrange flying creatures. Elven Empire

The black/green Kaldheim Commander deck is called Elven Empire, and it features Lahtril, Blade of the Elves as the Commander. The 2/3 legendary elf noble with menace that lets you create 1/1 Elf Warrior token creatures when it deals combat damage to a player. At the cost of tapping ten untapped elves you control, its activated ability makes your opponent lose 10 life and gain you 10 life. This tribal deck is focused on bringing out many elves into the battlefield to gain strong board presence.

Kaldheim is set to release on February 5, 2021 for tabletop, and Jan. 28 on Magic Arena and Magic Online. The set will be followed by Strixhaven: School of Mages, which is set to release sometime in Spring 2021.
