Henry Cavill Open to Being the New James Bond

MGM is currently working on pumping out Bond 25 for next year, and the film is said to be Daniel Craig's last outing as 007. A lot of people have been wondering who could take Craig's spot as Bond next, and Superman actor Henry Cavill says he's open to taking the role.

Talking to Yahoo! UK, Cavill said:

"I would love to do it of course. I think Bond would be a really fun role. It's British, it's cool. I think that now that I have my Mission: Impossible badge we can do real stunts and really amp it up as well... Not to say they weren't doing real stunts I'm just saying it would be fun for me to actually take what I've learnt on this and carry it through to a movie like Bond. I'd love to play a Brit. I don't get to play a Brit very often. So yes, I would love the opportunity and if they were to ask I would say ‘yes.'

Cavill definitely has the looks to pull off a new Bond, and based on his fantastic work in The Man from U.N.C.L.E., he can make for a suave and sophisticated secret agent. Hopefully Cavill's performance in Mission Impossible: Fallout will be enough to make the higher-ups seriously consider him for the role.

Then again, with his work as Superman, I would imagine that Cavill would be too busy to sign up for another big franchise. Add to that, it looks like working on Bond could be more pressing than standing around a green screen and pretending to fly and shoot lasers from his eyes. Nevertheless, I think Cavill is a fantastic actor, and I've enjoyed his recent roles ever since Man of Steel.

Bond 25 is aiming for a release on Nov. 8, 2019. Catch Cavill in Mission Impossible: Fallout on July 27.
