Whether you love or hate the Star Wars prequels, Hayden Christensen's performance as an angsty, mopey, and vulnerable teenage Anakin Skywalker was still somewhat convincing.
Well, the 35-year-old actor would love to return to the franchise given the chance.
In an interview with etalk last year, Christensen was asked whether he would like to return as the conflicted Jedi. The actor said:
Absolutely. In a heartbeat, for sure.
Being a part of that world was a huge deal for me, and was a good four/five years of my life. I have fond memories and good friendships from that whole time.
But if they ever gave me the call, I would sign up in a heartbeat.

Obviously, Christensen enjoyed making the prequels, and there's no telling which Star Wars film he'll be cast in for an appearance. There have been plenty of such rumors of Anakin Skywalker, Yoda, and Obi-Wan Kenobi appearing in Episode VIII as Force ghots to Luke and Rey. In fact, Anakin was originally planned to show up in last year's The Force Awakens. There's even rumors that Hayden could appear in the upcoming Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, but as a young Darth Vader. Despite the Episode VIII and Rogue One appearances being rumors, the possibilities are already out there, and they don't sound ridiculous to boot.
Personally, I find it makes more sense for Anakin to appear in Rogue One, since it's already been confirmed that Vader will appear in the gritty film. In any case, the choice is up to Disney-Lucasfilm. Hopefully, he does appear. It would make the movies that much more interesting, warranted the narrative does need Anakin.
