Gotham's Ben McKenzie Gets His First Director Stint for Gordon Episode

Maybe it's what they call the evolution of actors. But more often nowadays, actors who had starred in their respective series had moved from just in front of the camera to the different roles behind it.

Joining in the string of actors who have done this is Ben McKenzie. Previously known for his roles in The OC and Southland, McKenzie confirmed via TV Guide Magazine's live Facebook interview that the episode he'll be directing will be none other the one that introduces Frank Gordon, his character's estranged uncle.

"Yes, my first time ever directing. I'm so excited. I started prepping right before Christmas and start shooting right after. So, very soon. I'm reading the outlines right now."

The episode featuring McKenzie's directorial debut will premiere for the next half of the series.

This is probably one of the most eventful season for McKenzie's role as James Gordon. While he has not yet grown into the role that most fans know him to be, he definitely has had a lot of downs for this one. It doesn't help that he'll also be trading the proverbial blows with Mario Falcone (James Carpinello), son of then criminal underlord Carmine Falcone and the fiancé of Gordon's previous ladylove, Dr. Lee Thompson (Morena Baccarin).

Gotham airs Mondays at 8:00 p.m. on FOX.
