Fans Launch Petition To Bring Back George Lucas For Star Wars: Episode IX

Despite some fans approving George Lucas' lack of involvement with the new Star Wars films, other fans want the creator of the franchise to return to direct Star Wars: Episode IX.

Episode IX will be helmed by Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow, but the campaign, started by Yuri Luiz on Change.org, states that "We have no problem with Colin Trevorrow, but he's not the right guy to direct Star Wars: Episode IX,". The petition has over 1,262 signatures right now at the time I'm writing this article.

"George Lucas as director of Episode IX would be the perfect way to end this new trilogy and make an epic farewell between the Father of Star Wars and the whole universe of the galaxy far, far away."

George Lucas directed the original Star Wars, Episode IV: A New Hope, back in 1977 and also directed less-acclaimed prequels from 1999-2005. He has since sold all rights to the Star Wars films to Walt Disney Company, who assumed complete creative control beginning with 2015's Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

So would you like to see George Lucas direct

Episode IX

instead of Trevorrow?
