The Lord of the Rings is considered one of the best book series has ever created. Fans will be happy to learn that the great book series will have a hardcover illustrated edition. The books will be coming out on October 19, 2021. The new edition will come with illustrations from author JRR Tolkien. It will be the first time any new edition from the series were removed since 1954.
The 1954 edition only featured two illustrations from Tolkien, however, this latest release will include more surprises with additional illustrated versions. Tolkien’s art was seen in print before on the hardcover of "Pictures by JRR Tolkien" which was released in 1979. The book contains collections of illustrations that were printed in a series of calendars.
The upcoming release of Tolkien’s LOTR trilogy will include drawings, paintings, and other illustrations made by the British author. The announcement was made by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Books & Media. The vice president of the publishing house, Deb Brody, stated that Tolkien was already famous for his drawings and illustrations. His illustrations already appeared in The Hobbit. Tolkien’s LOTR artwork was also displayed in a 2018 exhibition which was held in New York, Paris and in Oxford, England.
Fans of the Lord of the Rings book and movies will truly enjoy the upcoming release as it will showcase more of the vision of Tolkien’s storytelling. An upcoming Gollum game also puts the “spotlight on an unlikely hero.” It will be another great entry and add more variety into the group of Lord of the Rings games.
The hardcover for the Lord of the Rings: Illustrated Edition has 1,248 pages, with a hardcover binding. It costs $75.
