The first episode of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier took place six months after the events that happened in the Avengers: Endgame, at the time when Captain America passed his shield to Sam Wilson. The series follows Sam and Bucky Barnes as they work their way into a world of chaos following The Blip of Thanos.

Sam turned over the shield to the American government. He struggles to adjust to civilian life. The first episode ended with the government giving the shield to a US agent, to serve as Captain America's replacement.

The series also introduced the Flag Smashers, a terrorist organization, whose goal is to return to a world without any borders, during the five-year gap that was witnessed in Endgame. Later episodes of the series will also feature the return of Helmut Zemo and Sharon Carter.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier airs every Friday.
