Superman and Lois Will Feature One of the Most Iconic Villains in the DC Universe


Superman & Lois premiered and received some good reviews. One of the main talking points about the series is that since it is focused on some of the most popular characters in the DC universe, it should also have an iconic villain.

Superman & Lois showrunner Todd Helbing revealed that they went for a classic Superman villain. However, the CW series' incarnation of the iconic villain somewhat differentiates him from his previous incarnations.

As the Superman & Lois premiere episode came to a close, it ended with a surprising reveal. The mysterious man who has sabotaged the nuclear plants to get Superman's attention was Lex Luthor.



Alexander Joseph Luthor is a fictional supervillain in the DC universe. Jerry Spiegel and Joe Shuster created Lex Luthor which originally appeared in Action Comics No. 23. Since then, the character served as an archenemy of Superman.

Originally, Lex Luthor was a mad scientist but in the late ‘89s, he was portrayed as a power-hungry businessman. Lex wants to get rid of Superman, as he apparently sees Superman as a threat to humanity but also because he is jealous of the Kryptonian's popularity and influence.

Helbing said that he and Greg Berlanti wanted to have an iconic villain for Superman. He said that they saw the opportunity to bring a new story to the audiences with a character that they already know.

There is a Lex Luthor on Supergirl which is played by Jon Cryer. However, Superman & Lois have a different Lex Luthor, which will be played by Wolé Parks. Helbing praised Cryer's work on Supergirl. However, he said that the incarnation of the character on Superman & Lois will be a new one, with many twists and turns happening.

Superman & Lois airs every Tuesday at 8 pm ET on CW.
