Supergirl's 'Prom Night!' Will Introduce How the Young Cat Grant Became a Media Powerhouse


Supergirl Season 6, Episode 5 titled Prom Night is introducing a new guest star on the series. The photos revealed that the episode will feature a guest star Eliza Helm, who will play the younger version of Cat Grant.

Cat Grant is a character created by Jerry Ordway and Marv Wolfman for DC Comics. The character was first seen in the Adventures of Superman #424 in 1987. The character later joined the Arrowverse in the first season of Supergirl. The character was played by Calista Flockhart.

Cat Grant is a former reporter for the Daily Planet. She later went on to start her own media conglomerate, CatCo Worldwide Media, which is based in National City. Despite the habit of being strict and stern to her employees, Cat served as a mentor figure to Kara Danvers. Kara started as Cat's personal assistant. Flockhart stepped down from being a series regular after Supergirl season 2 with her leaving to become the White House Press Secretary.

The introduction of a young Cat Grant to the series was announced in March. The character description noted that Cat was eager to step out of Lois Lane's shadow, as well as out from underboss Perry White's thumb, Cat goes on to chase a story in Kara's hometown. The lead didn't go well as planned. However, the circumstances have put her trajectory into becoming the media powerhouse that later mentored Kara Danvers.

Many fans are still hopeful that Flockhart who played the adult version of Cat Grant will return before the season ends, fans will be treated to see the history of Cat and how she came where she is now.
