The first season focused on the investigation of the disappearance of a girl with psychokinetic abilities. Stranger Things Season 2 was about Will's side effects from entering the Upside Down with the entities crawling into the real world. The third season is about Eleven and Mike's relationship as they continue their battle against the entities from Upside Down. Stranger Things Season 4 will continue being produced by the same creators along with Iain Paterson.

In a recent interview with Screen Rant, the executive producer of the show, Shawn Levy, reveals the reason why the hit Netflix series will be ending after Season 5. You can read the article about it here.

The creators of the show, the Duffer Brothers, recently discussed potential spinoff projects for the hit Netflix show. They told SFX Magazine (via GamesRadar+) that they have a few ideas for potential spinoff projects. "We have some ideas," Matt Duffer said during the interview. "In terms of if we were to do any sort of a spinoff, or any continuation of Stranger Things, for us the bar was always, 'Is the idea exciting enough that we feel the pull of wanting to do it again?' I want to feel the pull of, 'God, I really want to do this. I feel really, really excited about this.' So that’s why we’re being careful about what that is and whether we move forward with it or not." As of now, there are still no news of Stranger Things spinoff projects so we just have to wait for more news regarding future projects.

And then there's this new Creel House thing, which is this new element of a situation in Hawkins, which of course all relates."

"What we're trying to do, as we elaborate this thing, [is] to draw it back and make sure that we don't have an end game like, some of us thought about, that show LOST. 'What happened to the polar bear?!' ... We're trying to draw in, so the [elements of the story line] starts to come to a head and becomes a complete piece." He also added, "Season 4 lays a lot of pipe for that."

David Harbour also adds that Stranger Things Season 4 is "the deepest season we've got to go" with Hopper. He also brought up during the panel the "cardboard boxes in the attic" that were previously mentioned. "We start to really uncover these truths that we've only hinted at before," he said. Fellow showrunner Finn Wolfhard mentioned in an interview in The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon that Season 4 is going to be "really messed up".
