Star Wars' Daisy Ridley Replaced By 50 Shades' Dakota Johnson in the New Movie


Star Wars' fan-favorite actress Daisy Ridley previously signed on a new movie deal. However, recent developments revealed that the actress has been replaced. Fifty Shades of Grey's Dakota Johnson in an upcoming project alongside Sean Penn. Ridley played the role of Rey in the most recent Star Wars trilogy.

She was previously attached to work on the project back in 2017. However, Johnson is in line to lead with Penn. Almost four years ago, just after she worked on Star Wars, Ridley signed for the independent movie Daddio.


However, as with most independent movies, actors often come and go caused by scheduling and other issues that may arise. Johnson is now set to star in the film, which will have her two-time Oscar winner Penn.

Deadline reported that Penn and Johnson will star in the movie that will be spearheaded by director and writer Christy Hall. Nonetheless, Hall will also produce the film through her TeaTime Pictures banner.


Daddio is set to premiere at the Cannes film festival. It follows the story of a young woman who jumped into the backseat of a yellow taxi after coming to New York City. The synopsis continues that the cabbie named Clark throws the vehicle into drive. The two head out in the night, as they strike up the most unexpected conversation.

Daddio will dive into the complexities of human connection. It proves that chance encounters with strangers can change a person's life.


Aside from Daddio, Johnson will star in Netflix's adaptation of Jane Austen's novel Persuasion.
