Ronald D. Moore is a well-known Hollywood scriptwriter who previously worked on Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Deep Space. He is also the creator of the Battlestar Galactica reboot. Moore revealed that he would love to develop a Star Wars series on Disney+.
If Moore pushes through with his plan, this wouldn’t be his first attempt at developing a Star Wars show. Previously, he worked on Lucasfilm’s Star Wars: Underworld series. This project ended up shelved after Disney acquired Lucasfilm.
The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Moore is currently working with 20th Century television, which is also a part of Disney. This would be a great place where he can make a Star Wars pitch. In fact, it was announced that Moore will develop a Magic Kingdom TV universe for Disney+.
Moore is still interested in working for a Star Wars series at the right time. He even revealed that he wrote lines for Darth Vader. This detail would be in line with the rumor that Moore’s series could be set between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope. However, Disney+ Star Wars shows in that time period are already covered. One of the series that will be covered in that period will be the Kenobi series starring Ewan McGregor. It has also been confirmed that Hayden Christensen will return to portray Darth Vader, years after the events of Sith.
Moore understands that the Star Wars plate is currently full the moment. He thinks that this might not be the right moment to pitch a new Star Wars series. He is still interested to work for a Star Wars series when the time is right.
That said, the Obi-Wan Kenobi series is slated for a possible release in early 2022.
