Sebastian Stan Wants to Play The Winter Soldier as Long as Marvel Wants Him

Sebastian Stan intends to keep playing Bucky Barnes, also known as Winter Soldier in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, the catch is until Marvel will let him play the role. This echoes Anthony Mackie's statement that he is willing to play his role and stay with Marvel even if he reaches his senior age.

Stan spoke with Just for Variety, Variety.com's podcast, where he shared how much time he will last in the MCU. The actor revealed that it is not up to him as he doesn't make the decisions. Stan said that as long as Marvel keeps calling him, he will be there. He added that he truly doesn't know as he gets old too like everyone else. Stan noted that he doesn't have any idea and that he is just in for the ride.

The actor made his first appearance in the MCU in 2011 with Captain America: The First Avenger. At that time, fans saw Bucky prior to his transformation into becoming Hydra's "attack dog" known as the Winter Soldier in 2014's Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

Bucky went on a personal journey where he recovered his identity and fixed the horrors that he has done as a brainwashed assassin in the past. This culminated in his appearance in Disney's The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. The Disney+ series ended with him finding closure as he reached out to the loved ones of those he killed as the brainwashed Winter Soldier.

When Stan was asked if he can play Bucky even if he is in his 80s, the actor replied that he might be so lucky since there are many TV shows that went for many seasons. He said that the audience grows older along with the actor that plays the character on TV.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is currently streaming on Disney+.
