New Mass Effect Game Gets A New Mystery Teaser

The Mass Effect franchise is not yet done as BioWare revealed that the new Mass Effect game is in the works. The announcement was made at the end of The Game Awards 2020 livestream. The game is still in its early stages of development.

Based on the teaser, it appears that the new game will be a continuation of the Mass Effect 3 storyline. The trailer was not subtle and shows a lot of what fans can expect. The trailer begins with a long zoom on the outer space, back into a more familiar galaxy. Another galaxy, which is presumed to be Andromeda, is left on the horizon. In the trailer, certain radio messages from Earth can be heard. Other details in the trailer include wreckage of Mass Relays that was destroyed in Reaper war, as well as some audio clips from the original Mass Effect trilogy.

The trailer ends with an Asari, which can be presumed as Liara, walking through the snow of an icy planet. There is a dead Reaper in the background and the Asari picks up a piece of the N7 armor as she looks at her other comrades in the background. Presumably, the owner of that N7 armor can be Commander Shepard who died at the end of Mass Effect 3, no matter what choices the players will make.

The upcoming sequel looks like it will be exploring a galaxy and takes place immediately after Mass Effect 3, wherein Shepard made use of The Citadel that changed all life in the universe fundamentally. The teaser trailer ends with the tagline, "Mass Effect will continue."

The teaser release was further confirmed by the official Mass Effect Twitter, stating that the new Mass Effect game is in its pre-production phase. Multiple developers that worked from the original trilogy have returned to work on the fourth installment of the game. BioWare already confirmed the new Mass Effect game in November, stating that a group of veteran developers is working on the new game.
