Mark Strong's Dr. Sivana Not in Shazam 2 Due to the Addition of More Female Villains

Mark Strong, the actor who played the role of Dr. Sivana in the first Shazam film will not take part in the sequel titled Shazam: Fury of the Gods. Strong's character in Shazam was driven by the Seven Deadly Sins and sought to take Billy's power for himself. Sivana failed but in the mid-credits part of the film, Sivana was in prison and he seemed to be working with Mister Mind. Sivana revealed that he is interested to work in the movies in 2020.

However, in an interview with Den of Geek regarding Strong's participation in Cruella, he revealed that he will not be in Shazam: Fury of the Gods. Strong said that he only found out about it the night before the interview. He said that he talked to the producer after seeing Zachary Levi tweeting that they will be shooting soon in Atlanta.

Despite being excluded in the sequel, Strong isn't too bothered by it because of the villains who will take part in Shazam 2. Helen Mirren and Lucy Liu will be the female villains for the sequel. Strong revealed that he is happy to take a back to have the female villains have a go, judging by the work that Emma Thompson and Emma Stone did in Cruella. Strong said, "It's about time."

Strong isn't dismissing the fact that his character might be in the third installment of the film. He stated that he has unfinished business with Mister Mind which can be further expanded in the third movie for Shazam.

Shazam: Fury of the Gods is set to be released on June 2, 2023.
