Margot Robbie Says Harley's Fate in Snyder's Justice League is Why DC is Different From Marvel

Zack Snyder's Justice League has continued to make serious buzz among fans. Ever since the movie was released on HBO Max, fans want to see more of what is in store in Snyder's vision. Some fans theorized that the events in the Knightmare scene were from an alternative timeline which Ezra Miller's Flash may try to avoid by going back to the past. There are many theories floating around on how Snyder's vision will affect some fan-favorite characters, just like Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn.

Robbie's Harley Quinn was the favorite of many fans ever since the promotions for the Suicide Squad in 2016 were released. The actress has an interesting reaction upon learning the fate of her character in Snyder's cut of the Justice League.

SPOILER ALERT! The following details contain spoilers from Zack Snyder's Justice League.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Robbie was asked questions about her character in the DC world. The actress was asked if she is aware of her character's fate in Snyder's Justice League. As it turns out, she wasn't aware of the demise of her character which was detailed in the last sequence of Snyder's Justice League.

As fans know, in the last part of the film, Ben Affleck's Joker and Jared Leto's Joker were having a conversation. Leto's Joker was mocking Affleck's Batman for letting Lois Lane die. Joker mocks Batman, saying he needs the Joker to undo the world that Batman created. Batman responded with a threat. He mentioned that as Harley Quinn was dying in his arms, her request was for him to kill the Joker. This statement from Batman seemed to have an effect on Joker.

This sequence showed the fate that Harley Quinn went through. When Robbie was told the details, the actress was shocked. She immediately said, "Whaaat?" She also added that this is why DC is different in how Marvel approaches their films.

The actress continued to say:

"I didn't know that. Thank you for telling me! I guess it's kind of like the comics. The film version of the DC universe, I actually think they're a lot like the comics. You pick up one comic and something's happening and then you pick up the next comic and maybe that character's not alive, maybe that character's not with that person, maybe that character looks completely different.
Each movie is its own sort of thing, and I think that works in the comic book world, and I think that works in the DC film world as well. It's not like Marvel where everything is more obviously linked in a more linear way. It feels like there's so many adjacent stories, worlds, and films happening at the same time, just like there are in the comics.
So, yeah, I didn't know that, but it doesn't necessarily change what other people are able to do with this universe, I don't think. What one director decides I don't think dictates what another director might be able to pick up and do with the world and the characters, which is fun. I think that's an appealing aspect for directors in the DC world, they can make it their own, the way James did. He didn't have to be beholden to the version that David Ayer set up. He could pick it up and make it his own, which I'm sure was more appealing for him."

Harley Quinn will once again make her appearance in James Gunn's The Suicide Squad. The film will be released in the US on August 5, 2021.
