A new report revealed that J.J. Abrams' Justice League Dark series is currently in development for HBO Max. The development for the series has been confirmed by journalist Matt Webb Mitovich in an interview.
While Mitovich was answering questions for TVLine, he confirmed that Justice League Dark is still in development on HBO Max. Last April, it was revealed that Abrams and his wife, Katie McGrath will create three series for the streaming service, as a part of their new deal.
One of the deals includes a series based on DC property's Justice League Dark. It has been a property with a long history of being in development for a movie. Ever since the reveal, there was a little update in relation to the project's released.
The question was brought up in response to the Swamp Thing series which is seemingly up for grabs. TVLine reported that the Swamp Things' second season is not in the works, even after the CW started airing the former DC Universe series. Swamp Thing ended after one season. However, the head for The CW teased that Swamp Thing may show up in other DC properties, not just in the Arrowverse series.
The Swamp Thing features Constantine, which is also a key member of the Justice League Dark team. Additionally, Abrams' deal with HBO Max also involves a solo series featuring Zatanna and Constantine. This means that the characters may co-exist in the Arrowverse and the new slate of DC shows.
The Crisis on Infinite Earths also confirmed that many disconnected DC movies and TV series may exist together in the multiverse.
Justice League Dark was introduced in 2011, as a part of DC's New 52 relaunch. The team is made up of a group of supernatural heroes, who are fighting the magical and demonic threats, which are mainly outside the scope of the traditional Justice League.
