Elizabeth Olsen has been a great choice for the role of Wanda Maximoff a.k.a. Scarlet Witch within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, there was another franchise that inspired her to become a part of one.

Before she landed at Marvel, she was starring in a lot of little independent films playing ‘disturbed roles’ but she wanted to try something different. She wanted to be a part of the large fun movies, those that she enjoyed watching when she was growing up like Star Wars.

In fact, the actress stated that it was specifically Star Wars that inspired her to want to be a part of large franchises. During a recent interview with Collider, Olsen shared how her love of Star Wars led her to Marvel where she currently plays Scarlet Witch. She said that it was actually a funny decision that she had to put out her intentions

The actress talked to her agent and to her manager, who she added were like her ‘other mothers’. She told them that she wanted to be considered to work on projects that she grew up watching as a kid such as Star Wars. The actress said:

And I told them, ‘I want to be considered for the projects that I grew up …’ - like, as a kid, looking at Star Wars and I was obsessed with Star Wars. You couldn’t peel me away from Star Wars as a child. And so I was trying to figure out, how do I start putting that out there because I feel like all I’m getting are these really disturbed women in independent films. [Now] it’s just a disturbed woman in a big franchise! They said take meetings with the people who run these companies and so I literally did. I met with Kevin [Feige] and a couple other people that were working there at the time. And then I met with the people who were running Legendary at the time. And there were a few others in different places.”

Perhaps, Olsen may find herself in a Star Wars movie someday. In the meantime, the actress has a long road ahead within the MCU. Aside from WandaVision, the actress is also about to take part in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

With Wanda Maximoff soaring to new great heights, we will still get to see the actress in more projects. It will be interesting to see how her story arc in phase 4 of MCU will pan out.
