Disney+ Server Crashes Due to Demand for WandaVision


WandaVision is undoubtedly a major hit for many Disney+ users. In fact, it was so much of a big hit that Disney+'s service couldn't handle the demand and experienced multiple crashes and outages.

Marvel fans who were very excited to see the newest WandaVision episode on Disney+ before the spoilers started coming out were a bit disappointed due to the multiple outages. Based on the website Downdetector, there were over 15,000 issues spotted at around 3 am to 4 am ET, which is the exact schedule when new episodes of WandaVision are released every Friday. Based on the data, the issues were resolved at around 4:30 am.

Many users saw an error message when they tried watching the new episode of the series. Thousands of users reported the outage. Some fans also took to Twitter to complain about the crashes and outages. The problem was resolved after 15 minutes but some fans were already left frustrated and disappointed. Disney hasn't officially acknowledged the main cause but it was most likely caused by the influx of users wanting to stream the latest episode as soon as possible.

Fans who have been using Disney+ since its inception are aware of outages in the platform. Since 2019, the streaming platform has been plagued with issues. The first significant problem that the platform faced was during its launch on November 12, 2019. After that, some outages were experiences during the two seasons of The Mandalorian, especially when new episodes are released.
