The episode will follow the events that occurred in the manga chapter. In episode 7, Eren was able to get the War Hammer Titan. Reiner has shifted into his Armored Titan format, albeit his body is only partially covered by the armor. He manages to grab Porco's Jaw Titan away from Eren.

Mikasa grabs Eren, stating that it's time to go home. Eren solemnly says to himself, "Reiner, we'll meet again." Eren and Mikasa climbed the netting to the airship controlled by the Survey Corps. Mikasa and Eren share a disheartened glance with Armin, who helps to bring Eren on board. Levi insults Eren's filthy appearance before kicking him and having him restrained.

Eren did not resist, stating that nothing he had written in his letter was wrong. Outside, Jean orders the Paradis soldiers defending the ship to board. He also let them know that the enemies have no anti-aircraft weaponry. Former Garrison Commander Lobov tells Jean to board the airship as he will stay for a while to defend the rear.

Sasha and Connie help Jean up the ship. They informed him that the Corps has six fatalities. Floch tells them to compare those losses to the damage they have done to Marley. This led to a rousing cheer for the Survey Corps, celebrating the New Eldian Empire's major victory. Jean wonders how long they will have to continue the fight, but Connie tells Sasha and Jean that they are special to him. Connie adds that he is grateful they all survived.

Gabi runs after the airship as Falco chases after her. Gabi recalls the deaths of the two gate guards, Zofia, and Udo. She laments that people spit on her just for being an Eldian. Her reason to improve herself is to prove to the world that Eldians are not bad people. Gabi adds that she cannot forgive the people who trampled her home.

Gabi rejects Falco's explanation that the enemy is just reacting in retaliation to the similar attack on their land committed by Marley Warriors. Gabi calls the Eldians in Paradis devils threatening world peace. Falco remembers what Eren told Reiner; both inside and outside the Walls, they are the same. Gabi continues to chase the airship.

Lobov is part of Squad Lima who is the last to enter the airship. Lobov sees Gabi running below. Gabi shoots him in the head, immediately killing him. Lobov's lifeless body falls to the ground, although the wire from his anti-personnel vertical maneuvering equipment is still attached to the airship.

Gabi tests the gear's trigger, telling Falco to tell the others about her bravery, preparing to board the airship. Colt sees them and rushes to stop the two. Falco remembers Reiner's words that he must save Gabi, to which he grabs onto her as she activates the gear.

The Survey Corps have turned their backs and Gabi rolls inside. She immediately fires towards the group of soldiers. The bullet hits Sasha's torso and falls limply, much to the horror of the shocked Connie and Jean. Both Jean and Gabi aim at one another but Falco tackles Gabi to the floor. This led for her bullet to go astray and Jean missing his mark.

An angry group of Paradis soldiers restrains Gabi and Falco, as Jean and Connie rush to Sasha's side. While Sasha bleeds out and in shock, she makes a delirious statement if their food is ready, ending on the word ‘meat'. Floch tells Jean how the two children boarded the ship, adding that he will throw them out of the airship. Jean woefully asks if throwing them out of the airship will stop the killing.

Back in the ground, Marley officer Koslow informs Marley Commander Theo Magath that Falco and Gabi ran away. Magath talks to Piek, who states that she remembers the bearded soldier who trapped her and Porco Galliard.

Pieck states that the bearded soldier is a lady, who she saw as part of the first missing survey ship that was sent to Paradis Island. Pieck adds that the woman is a follower of Zeke Yeager. Back in the airship, Levi tells Yelena to remove her fake beard. In the other room, Gabi shouts at the Survey Corps soldiers, cursing them as devils, adding that Marley has not lost yet.

Gabi says that Zeke's will for Eldia will be continued by true Eldians. Jean says that he'd let Gabi tell that personally to someone. Jean brings the two Warrior candidates in the room where Zeke is sitting near Eren, as he is regenerating his limbs.

Zeke asks Falco and Gabi why they are on the ship. Gabi is glad he is alive, although he is captured. Jean explains what Gabi did in the other room, causing Armin and Mikasa to go out to see Sasha.

Hange entrusts the piloting to Onyankopon and enters the room, asking Zeke if everything went according to the plan. To the shock of Gabi and Falco, Zeke answers that the plan went well although there were some miscalculations. Hange asks about the two children, to which Zeke replies, "Miscalculations" insinuating that the two Warrior candidates on board are unexpected.

Jean angrily asks Yelena about her task of trapping the Cart and Jaw Titans. The escape of the two complicated the mission. Yelena takes the responsibility for the mishap. Levi adds that because of it, the Beast Titan had to throw more stones than planned.

Levi insincerely flatters Zeke for coming up with his dramatic improvisation of throwing the stones. Zeke sarcastically jokes back that he had done so, especially with Levi wanting to kill him, to which Levi replying with a vague threat.

Eren believes that the successes gained in this battle, which includes killing Marley's military leaders, have bought them enough time. Hange disagrees, stating that it is more likely that the world will launch a united global offensive against Paradis Island. Hange expresses her disappointment in Eren for abusing his trust in the Survey Corps to force them into action. In the process, he has betrayed the Corps' trust.

Zeke counters Hange that having the Founding Titan together with a royal-blooded Titan will make all of their sacrifices worthwhile as it will grant freedom for Eldia. Connie comes in crying, breaking the news of Sasha's death.

Eren asks if Sasha had any last words, to which he was told ‘meat'. Eren let's out an unhinged chuckle, but with a despondent look on his face. Jean blames Eren for Sasha's death, explaining that she died because Eren dragged the Survey Corps in the battle. As the others around him look on, Eren grits his teeth as he remembers Sasha's wish to recover stolen lands so they can raise livestock.
