Does the Duke of Death Break His Curse?
So far, the Duke's attempts to break his curse in the anime have been pointless, though at least some laughs come out of these failures, due to the show's light-hearted nature.
However, the manga is a different story. If you want to read it and find out for yourself, you might want to stop here for now.
In the now-completed manga, the Duke's curse is finally broken. Now free, he marries his beloved, Alice.

How Did the Duke Try to Break His Curse?
As far as the anime is concerned (so far), the Duke and his beloved Alice have traveled to a different dimension to attend a witches' Sabbath and hopefully meet the witch who cursed the Duke.
Unfortunately, the pair found out that the witch in question is dead, and no one else is able to do anything about the curse.
Alice doesn't give up, but several hilarious events follow, as she decides to try every DIY curse solution she can come up with; from brewing a potion to making the Duke play a cursed tune on the piano.
Their attempts even lead them to a dream in Wonderland, where they can actually touch.
The Duke's friends, Cuff and Zain, are also helping with all the information they can find.
As far as the manga is concerned, the Duke tried even more solutions before finally going in the right direction.
Since the manga went on for a while, it was natural to wonder if the creators even planned to remove the curse at all.
The show seems more devoted to fun, heartwarming interactions than to the plot. And to be honest, that's ok, as it does a great job.
Finally, the manga put all worries to rest by freeing the Duke.

So, How Did the Duke of Death Break His Curse?
In the manga, Sade, the witch who cursed the Duke, turns out to have survived in a different timeline.
Knowing that her return would affect the timeline, she decided to lay low.
When the Duke and Alice finally meet her, they decide to forgive her and offer their friendship.
The Duke admits that he would rather remain cursed if it means continuing his current lifestyle, as the curse allowed him to live with Alice and Rob, and meet friends he would never have interacted with in his family's manor.

Sade is moved by the Duke's forgiveness and decides to lift all the curses she has placed, making a new start.
This allows the Duke to remain with Alice, and the two are now happily married.
