Did Carrie Fisher Just Drop A Key Star Wars: Episode VIII Scene?

Warning: potential spoilers ahead — nothing too major but if you'd rather go into the film without knowing anything at all, scroll with caution.

Lucasfilm didn't reveal any plot details about Star Wars: Episode VIII other than the tidbit that it will start where The Force Awakens left off. But actress Carrie FIsher may have dropped one major spoiler about a certain key scene in the film.

During a panel at Star Wars Celebration Europe in London this past weekend, moderator (and Star Wars actor) Warwick Davis asked Fisher what happened to Leia between Episodes VI and VII. Seemingly misunderstanding the question, Fisher said, "Han's funeral." The actress, however, went on to try to correct "The old one, oh. Han and I have a very volatile relationship obviously, which leads to space divorce. No, I don't think we are divorced, we're just estranged."

That's ont really a huge spoiler in terms of giving away Episode VIII's plot. Kowing how many fans were upset that Han didn't get a funeral at the end of The Force Awakens, it makes sense why they would include this particular scene to appease them, but it's unclear whether Fisher is implying that we'll get to see Han's funeral in the movie itself, or it will happen between the two. Nonetheless, the scene would give an emotional moment for Leia and the others in the beginning of Episode VIII.

Star Wars: Episode VIII will hit theaters on December 15, 2017.
