At the end of Demon Slayer Season 1, Tanjiro, Inosuke, and Zenitsu were summoned to their first major assignment as part of the Demon Slayer Corps. They were accompanied by Rengoku, a member of the Hashira (elite Demon Slayer swordsman), and the events of the film followed Tanjiro and company's mission to take down the Lower One of the Twelve Moons, the demonic organization led by the slayer of Tanjiro's family, Muzan Kibutsuji.

The Slayers faced Enmu, a demon of the Twelve Kizuki who's been terrorizing passengers of the Mugen Train. The Twelve Kizuki are the most powerful group of demons assembled by Muzan Kibutsuji, the original demon who can turn humans into demons.

Following the tragic events of Mugen Train, and the end of the Infinity Train saga, Tanjiro, the Demon Slayer Corps, and the Hashira will have to deal with the fallout of the film, as well as the emergence of new villains. Fans also should expect more of the Mugen Train arc, including the never-before-seen Kyojuro Rengoku episode.

"In regards to content for [Demon Slayer Season 2], it was subject to the usual examination, but we intend to broadcast it without making any changes," he said.
