New Trailer for VR Game Star Wars: Tales From the Galaxy’s Edge – Last Call

An official new teaser trailer has launched for Star Wars: Tales From the Galaxy's Edge – Last Call, a VR experience courtesy of ILMxLAB that will be released on the Oculus Quest later this year. The virtual reality game is a sequel to last year's Star Wars: Tales From the Galaxy's Edge, and will allow players to return to the faraway galaxy for even more out-of-this-world adventures. Disney World also celebrated their first VR-themed Star Wars experience a few years ago with THE VOID's Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire, at the resort's entertainment district Disney Springs, in which players receive a message from Cassian Andor, who sends the Rebels on a mission to Mustafar where, disguised as Stormtroopers, they must steal a weapon from the Empire. The experience utilized real-world objects, as well as smell, vibrations, and heat, to help create a sense of reality for the players within the virtual environment.

Now, like with last year's Star Wars: Tales From the Galaxy's Edge, you can bring the Star Wars universe home. But what can players expect from the new VR game? Well, for starters you'll meet the likes of Dok-Ondar, who you can also meet at Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge in Disney World, in Dok-Ondar's Den of Antiquities, as well as newcomers Lens Kamo and Baron Attsmun (the latter actually appeared in Canto Bight in the sequel trilogy's second installment The Last Jedi).

Fans of Disney World's Galaxy's Edge will also be familiar with the game's planetary setting of Batuu, the remote trading outpost found on the Outer Rim of Wild Space. Judging by the trailer, though, it's fair to say that there are no iconic characters, such as Ahsoka Tano, Darth Maul, Omega, Sabine Wren, and Jar Jar Binks. But the Star Wars universe is vast, and it's refreshing to see a game that's dipping its toes into lesser-known settings with characters who aren't iconic just yet, but given time, will likely be as memorable as the aforementioned.

In an interview with StarWars.com, the game's director Jose Perez III talked about what players can expect. Here's what he said when asked what players could expect from the story and the missions: "More swashbucking adventure! A large chunk of Last Call has strong Indiana Jones meets Star Wars vibes. So we had a lot of fun building our interesting environmental puzzles for the player to unravel as they dig deeper into the ruins of an ancient Jedi Temple." It's fair to say that to hear the words 'Indiana Jones' in the description for a Star Wars game can only be a good thing.

Oculus Quest is a VR headset and follow-up to with Oculus Go. Using 'positional tracking', the system allows players to move about freely in a safe environment and is among the latest in virtual reality technology. While the trailer for Star Wars: Tales From the Galaxy's Edge - The Last Call looks a great deal of fun, it's fascinating to imagine where this level of gaming might take us years from now, especially where Star Wars experiences are concerned.

Needless to say, it's a great time to be a Star Wars fan, with upcoming shows such as The Book of Boba Fett, The Mandalorian Season 3, The Bad Batch Season 2, Ahsoka, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Andor and Star Wars: Visions, as well as a new movie from director Taika Waititi. And if VR isn't up your alley, there's also an upcoming open-world Star Wars game, courtesy of Ubisoft. With a galaxy of worlds on offer, we're sure it will be just as immersive as the all-new VR game Star Wars: Tales From the Galaxy's Edge - The Last Call.
