Here's what Netflix's CCO Ted Sarando said about Cobra Kai Season 4's release date: "We think we'll get back to a much steadier state in the back half of the year, certainly in Q4 where we have the returning seasons of some of our most popular shows like The Witcher and You and Cobra Kai as well as some big tentpole movies that came to market a little slower than we'd hoped like Red Notice and Escape From Spiderhead."

The new season started filming back in February 2021, and it wrapped up on May 2021. Star William Zabka marked the event on Twitter, confirming that the show's production lasted three-and-a-half months.

Cobra Kai Season 4 Plot: How the ending of Season 3 could factor in Season 4

Towards the end of Cobra Kai Season 3, the adults in Cobra Kai came together to cancel the All Valley Karate Tournament, arguing that the event probably will just let teenagers hospitalize one another. After all, Miguel started Season 3 in a coma, following Season 2's violent brawl.

However, thanks to a rousing speech from Miguel and Sam about how important this tournament is to them, they got the all-clear for the event to happen, and a deal between Cobra Kai, Miyagi-Do, and Johnny Lawrence's new dojo Eagle Fang was made. If Cobra Kai loses the All Valley Karate Tournament, it'll disband; but if it wins, they will continue with their current course and Kreese will still be the sensei.

Cobra Kai Season 4 will build-up to this tournament, and it's likely that Terry Silver will return in an early episode to make Cobra Kai more of a threat.

The end of Season 3 showed the beginning of the alliance between Miyagi-Do and Eagle Fang, so we will finally see Daniel and Johnny team-up as senseis who will train their students to prepare for the next All Valley Tournament. This is a much more hopeful tone than the ending of Season 2, so it would be exciting to see how they will settle their differences to make sure their students can get to the level they need to be to defeat Kreese's Cobra Kai fighters.

The All Valley Karate Tournament will most likely be at the climax of Season 4, but expect the show the continue in Season 5 regardless who wins the competition.

Xolo MaridueƱa, who plays Miguel Diaz in the show, describes the upcoming All-Valley Tournament in Season 4 during his interview with USA Today: "That first season, it was really just Miguel, Hawk and Robby. This season, we have everyone in the tournament. It really is just like an all-star game or something. It's gonna be savage."

Executive producer and co-showrunner Hayden Schlossberg spoke to TV Line about their plans for the spin-offs.

"Our hope is that we can really expand this whole Karate Kid universe and reinvigorate the fanbase, so that it's a story we can continue telling," Schlossberg said. "We do have an endgame for Cobra Kai, but we always compare it to our other favorite show, Breaking Bad, [and how] they're able to keep the story going with Better Call Saul and El Camino."

Cobra Kai creator Jon Hurwitz shared a small update about the Karate Kid/Cobra Kai spinoffs. "We're batting around ideas for various Karate Kid/Cobra Kai spinoffs. Some further along than others. Won't spoil anything beyond that," Hurwitz wrote.
