Captain America Originally Had A Cameo In Ant-Man And The Wasp

If things had turned out differently, then Marvel fans would have probably gotten to see Captain America (Chris Evans) making a hilarious cameo in Ant-Man and the Wasp.

Speaking in a new interview with the Radio Times to talk about some of his Ant-Man movie's secrets, director Peyton Reed revealed that he and his team actually had plans to have Captain America make a little appearance in the movie. According to the filmmaker, the cameo would have been part of Ant-Man and the Wasp's standout sequence where Luis (Michael Pena) goes on reviewing past events, and in the character's little litany, Captain America becomes part of the story.

"Early on, we had a version where we were going to do a quick version of the tarmac fight from Civil War, with some ridiculous thing where, you know, Captain America has Ant-Man as a baseball and throws him. Because the whole thing is Luis' version of events, right?" Reed explained.

Knowing Luis, it isn't hard to imagine the former prisoner embellishing and reimagining the airport fight scene in Civil War with Captain America using Ant-Man (Paul Rudd) as a baseball. It's such a shame the cameo didn't make it to the final draft of Ant-Man and the Wasp. It's rare seeing Captain America being goofy – the last time we've seen the super soldier getting into a funny scene was when he did some PSA videos in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Seeing Captain America doing something out of character would have definitely been a fun bit for Ant-Man and the Wasp.

Ant-Man and the Wasp is currently screening in cinemas.
