Thor: Love and Thunder is easily one of the projects most fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe have been dying to see and it isn't hard to understand why considering it'll feature the Guardians of the Galaxy and mark the grand MCU comeback of Natalie Portman as Jane Foster. Not only that, but the film will also see another epic physical transformation from the God of Thunder himself.
The project has already started production and this early in the game, we may already be getting some major spoilers about the film's plot. Aside from Thor seemingly taking the Thunderstrike mantle, a new set video seems to confirm the return of Odinson's trusty old weapon — the Mjolnir.
Chris Hemsworth's stunt double Bobby Holland Hanton posted a TikTok video of himself on set and interestingly, the stuntman is seen wielding the Mjolnir. The video has since been taken down but it's already making the rounds all over the internet. You can check out actual screenshots of the clip here.
Naturally, this begs the question: why is Thor still in possession of the weapon? The last time we checked, Captain America returned the Mjolnir back to its original timeline in 2013 where it was "borrowed" from.
The reason why Odinson retrieved it from a different year was that Hela destroyed the Mjolnir in Thor: Ragnarok. So how exactly is the mystical hammer still existent in the current timeline? It's worth noting that Jane Foster becomes the new Thor in the sequel and it's safe to assume that Eitri or someone else created an identical Mjolnir for her to wield.
Here's an interesting take: I think it's also possible that Loki has something to do with the weapon's return considering he's set to mess with different timelines in his own Disney+ show although that one is a giant-size theory for now.
Thor: Love and Thunder will hit cinemas in 2022.
