Is The Mandalorian worth watching? The Mandalorian Season 2 was the smash hit blockbuster TV series of 2020. The series captured the attention of millions with the debut of Baby Yoda in 2019. It's hard to go a day on Facebook without seeing a new Baby Yoda or Mandalorian meme. The series has become as popular as Game of Thrones, which infamously fell from grace in the final season.
Is the same fate destined for The Mandalorian? While the series has an amazing Rotten Tomatoes score of 94% by critics and 89% by users, not everyone is happy with the series.
Overall, most people believe the show is good, and many are even calling it one of the greatest things to happen to Star Wars since the Original Trilogy; however, that's mind-boggling to some Star Wars fans.

Most of the negative reviews were from those who were turned off by the level of fan service in the series and felt the show didn't hold its own without the callbacks to the Original Trilogy or nostalgia creeping in.
Despite that, longtime fans seem to be delighted with the pandering to the Star Wars base. I myself was ecstatic to see the return of Boba Fett, a character that didn't get the justice he deserved in the Original Trilogy. Finally, I can respect Boba Fett.
Given that the show has outstanding critic and user reviews, and its incredible popularity, it's hard to argue that the fan service wasn't a huge success for the show. The success of the first season alone is responsible for bringing us a plethora of new Star Wars shows from Disney+, including a new Obi Wan series, Ahsoka, Star Wars: The Bad Batch, Andor, The Book of Boba Fett, and more.
The Mandalorian Season 3 is expected to premiere in December 2021 on Disney+; however, The Book of Boba Fett is likely to release first and pushed the production timeline back for Season 3.
