The Snyder Cut of Justice League will be home to the much-anticipated return of Jared Leto's Joker and his surprise casting in the four-part project has generated quite a lot of buzz in the geek community as several reports have claimed that the version we will see in the upcoming cut will be a far cry from the Clown Prince of Crime we got in 2016's Suicide Squad.

It's still unclear how everything went down but director Zack Snyder is shedding some light on how exactly he managed to persuade the actor-rockstar to make his grand DC Extended Universe comeback. Of course, it's no secret to a lot of you that Leto's performance in Suicide Squad earned generally negative reaction from fans and critics alike, and the general belief amongst fans is that we've seen the last of him as the iconic Batman villain. Obviously, that's not the case.

In a recent interview with TheFilmJunkie, Snyder revealed how he convinced Leto to reprise his role in his cut of Justice League. Apparently, it didn't take a lot of convincing for him to agree to appear in the project. "It was a cool conversation because when I pitched the idea, I feel like he hooked onto the 'why' of it because there's a big why, and was like 'okay.' And literally, he said to me 'We'll talk more.' And then I kept calling him and we talked for a while and he agreed to do it."

Sure, Leto's portrayal of Mistah J may not have been everyone's cup of tea but his exciting appearance in Justice League offers hope that he'll be able to redeem himself and turn things around. Now, we're still quite unsure what his role would be exactly but I'm guessing he'll be doing a post-credits scene which will set up the DCEU arrival of the Legion of Doom, or I don't know, there could be more. One thing's for sure though, we'll soon find out.

Zack Snyder's Justice League will hit HBO Max in 2021.
