Fans can say what they want to say about the DC Extended Universe but despite its "underwhelming" track record, the franchise was actually able to produce some really good films over the last couple of years. One of which is 2019's Shazam! which caught a lot of people off guard. While the film didn't exactly achieve Aquaman levels of box office success, mainly due to the fact that it was sandwiched between Captain Marvel and Avengers: Endgame, the film was still serviceable and proved that the DCEU can deliver a family-friendly flick.
The fun DCEU film gave actor Zachary Levi the chance to show what he can do as a superhero after his Marvel gig fell flat. A sequel has been in the works over at Warner Bros. for quite some time now and finally, we're getting ourselves some much-needed update from the Big Red Cheese himself. Levi took to social media to pretty much confirm that production for Shazam! Fury of the Gods has begun.
In his latest Instagram post, the Thor: The Dark World actor showed off his custom Shazam! kicks and extended his gratitude to the people who have made his dream of becoming a superhero a reality. Check out the heartwarming post here:
You can tell that Levi is having the time of his life playing the character and it definitely shows. I've always been a fan of the actor and it's nice to see him enjoying himself over at the DC universe. As for the future of the World's Mightiest Mortal, the upcoming arrival of Black Adam to the DCEU could spell trouble for Billy Batson and the entire Shazam! family. I've been dying to see that showdown for years in live-action and I have high hopes that Levi and Dwayne Johnson will deliver.
No official release date has been announced for Shazam! Fury of the Gods.
