X-Men's Magneto Voice Actor David Hemblen Passes Away at 79

2020 continues to absolutely suck, Marvel fans. The iconic voice behind X-Men: The Animated Series' Magneto, David Hemblen has passed away. He was 79. As per the New York Times' obituary (via ComicBook.com) posted over the weekend, the English actor died on November 16th but the cause of his death wasn't disclosed. The news was later confirmed by the writers of the hit '90s animated show Julia and Eric Lewald.

In a heartfelt tribute, the writing duo took to their official Twitter handle to mourn Hemblen's passing. "This horrible, heart-breaking year continues... Our #Magneto," they wrote.

Aside from his memorable stint on X-Men, Hemblen is also best remembered for his role as Lord Dread in 1987's Captain Power and the Soldiers of the Future. His contributions to the world of entertainment will forever be cherished. Rest in peace, David Hemblen.
