The Falcon and the Winter Soldier Wyatt Russell may be relatively new to the Marvel Cinematic Universe but it can't be denied that his character John Walker aka the "new" Captain America has made a huge impact in the franchise in just a short amount of time. Currently, Walker is considered to be the most despised character in all of the MCU, and fans of Steve Rogers clearly hate him with a burning passion.
In fact, since his official debut in Episode 2, Marvel fans have gone on to criticize everything about him — from the way he carries himself and his physical appearance which has spawned numerous memes over the last couple of weeks.
But arguably the most awful thing that has happened to Russell so far is the fact that he's apparently been receiving death threats from some fans who want him out of the show. It's unclear if the actor who is not on social media is aware of the said death threats but he sure has heard about the criticism his character has been getting.
In an interview with Forbes, Wyatt broke his silence on the ongoing backlash John Walker has been generating, and surprisingly enough, he isn't all that bothered by it. He explains: "I hope people can watch it, enjoy it, and make them think. You can think whatever you want about my character. I hope it reminds you that, you know, you're human and watching things make you feel something and it doesn't matter what you feel."
It's cool that he's being a good sport about it and all but I hope fans would cut him a little slack because quite frankly, some of the things people are saying about him and not his character are totally uncalled for. On the flip side, it only goes to prove how effective Wyatt has been so far in playing the character.
The latest episode of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is now streaming on Disney+.
