Wonder Woman 1984 finally made its theatrical and streaming debut last week and surprisingly enough, fans have been divided with regard to their opinion of the DC Extended Universe sequel starring Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Pedro Pascal, and Kristen Wiig. The original film which premiered in 2017 was lauded by fans and critics for not following the standard DCEU formula which turned films like Man of Steel and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice into polarizing projects. Unfortunately, WW1984 wasn't able to sustain the franchise's momentum and the sequel ended up garnering mixed reactions from people.

However, things are still looking pretty good for the DC film. Wonder Woman 1984's box office numbers have been pretty impressive considering the global health crisis we're all dealing with. In fact, it opened domestically with 16.7 million dollars, officially securing the highest box office opening of any film released during the pandemic. Globally, WW84 has already secured 85 million dollars and despite losing its "certified fresh" rating on Rotten Tomatoes, the positive box office reception of the film has opted Warner Bros. to fast-track the third sequel which will see Gadot and director Patty Jenkins return, potentially to wrap up the trilogy.

I've seen the film twice over the weekend and I gotta say, it may have its flaws, but Wonder Woman 1984 still delivered. The film reminded me so much of the JusticeLeague animated series with little nods to the iconic '70s Wonder Woman starring Lynda Carter. Sure, there were some aspects that could've been made better but for the most part, I thought the film was pretty enjoyable.

That said, Wonder Woman 1984 is available for streaming on HBO Max.
