DC fans scored a major win this year with the premiere of Zack Snyder's true cut of Justice League and much to their delight, the four-hour film became a smash hit, with the director pretty much proving the naysayers wrong. Now, considering the Snyder Cut was well-received by fans and critics alike, it looked like it was only a matter of time before Warner Bros. finally allowed Zack to continue working on his DCEU vision but as it turns out, that wasn't to be.
WarnerMedia executive Ann Sarnoff even stressed in previous interviews that the Snyder Cut was only created to appease Zack's supporters and there are no plans to "restore" the SnyderVerse. Now, in a stunning turn of events, a new report suggests that the director could finally get the ball rolling with his DCEU plans.
According to tipster Daniel Richtman's Patreon scoop, AT&T's WarnerMedia and Discovery merger could spell great things for Snyder because once the deal has been set in stone, Discovery President and CEO David Zaslav will have full control of the new conglomerate, meaning he'll also have authority over WB executives Walter Hamada, Ann Sarnoff, Jason Kilar, and Toby Emmerich.
However, it's unclear if Zaslav is actually a fan of Zack's work and actually took notice of the hype the film generated but it can't be denied that capitalizing on the popularity of the Snyder Cut will be a profitable business move in the long run. I guess we'll just have to wait and see how everything plays out but the future sure looks promising for DC films in general.
