James Rhodes aka War Machine is easily one of the most underrated characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe which is why a lot of fans were thrilled to learn that Don Cheadle will be headlining his own Disney+ series titled Armor Wars. We still know very little about the project but it's safe to assume that it will be loosely based on the comic storyline of the same title.

The upcoming show is still under active development and we can expect it to hit the Disney streaming service as early as 2022. However, we may not have to wait that long to see War Machine make his grand MCU comeback. In an interesting new development, Don Cheadle officially confirmed that he'll be making his return to the billion-dollar franchise before Armor Wars.

In a recent appearance on BroBible's Post-Credit Podcast, Cheadle revealed that an appearance on the upcoming MCU spinoff series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is on the table for him. He said: "It’s really fun and interesting and, by all imagination, completely open-ended — this can go anywhere. It’s great, I can’t wait to get in the room with the writers and figure out how all those things happen. You know, Rhodey shows up in Winter Soldier and Falcon’s show. So, it can be a lot."

Now, an appearance for War Machine could mean that TFATWS could be setting up the events of Armor Wars although that one still remains to be seen. Quite frankly, it makes perfect sense to have Rhodey on the show because if you can remember, he disobeyed Thunderbolt Ross and the U.S. government in Avengers: Infinity War when he refused to turn Captain America and his crew over to them.

Aside from the upcoming MCU series starring Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan, there's also the possibility of Cheadle appearing in Ironheart to serve as Riri Williams' mentor now that Tony Stark is gone. One thing's for sure, War Machine is set to have a more significant role in the franchise and I'm here for it.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier hits Disney+ this March.
