Warning: if you haven't seen the second episode of WandaVision, this article contains major spoilers so read at your own risk!
WandaVision finally made its highly anticipated debut and to make up for the long content drought Marvel fans had to endure, the Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany series premiered back-to-back episodes and they were absolutely glorious.
The series begins in the 1950s with no explanation at all as to how and why Wanda and Vision ended up where they were. Every episode seems to be dedicated to a specific time period and it transitions from one decade to another as the series progresses. The second episode of the show is set in the 1960s and it pretty much shares the same vibe with Episode 1.
WandaVision is a unique viewing experience for a lot of reasons, one of which is the inclusion of fake TV commercials that pop up in every episode. Now, you may think that they're just there to make things look retro but since it's Marvel we're talking about, expect them to have a major connection to the MCU's story. True to form, Episode 2's fake commercial features a huge easter egg and a nod to Wanda's MCU origin.
In the franchise, Wanda and her twin brother Pietro aren't considered mutants and it was explained in Avengers: Age of Ultron that their superhuman abilities came from Baron Strucker's experiment with the use of the scepter that carries the mind stone. Speaking of the devious Strucker, the fake commercial from Episode 2 features a nod to the Marvel villain and Hydra associate. This may hint that Strucker and the villainous organization exist even in Wanda's perfect reality.
Now, you may be asking, considering Wanda was the one responsible for creating a brand new reality that has no traces of her chaotic life, why would she choose to have Strucker and Hydra exist in her new world? Again, this may just be Marvel Studios' way of incorporating their usual easter eggs but there could be more to it. I guess future episodes of the series will shed light on that matter.
