Regardless of how some people feel about that finale episode, I certainly believe that WandaVision was still able to deliver and exceed all expectations and I gotta point out, the series was also pretty successful in deceiving fans, myself included. A lot of the "deception" that happened on the show has something to do with Evan Peters' character "Pietro" who a lot of fans believe was the same character from the now-defunct Fox X-Men franchise.

We've already heard stories about Peters' absolutely "meta" casting which for the most part was intended to mess not only with Wanda's emotions but with fans as well. Speaking of MCU diehards, although Evan's involvement in the series came as a huge stunner, a lot of them were still hoping to see Aaron Taylor-Johnson reprise his role as Pietro Maximoff but unfortunately, it didn't happen.

But here's the thing, Marvel Studios apparently considered bringing back Aaron as Wanda's twin brother but he was never the first choice and Peters' mind-blowing casting was always the initial plan. Now, director Matt Shakman pretty much confirms that even though they considered ATJ, they've always favored the former X-Men actor to play "Fietro" over the Avengers: Age of Ultron star.

Speaking about it with ComicBook, Shakman explains: "There definitely were conversations about bringing Aaron Taylor-Johnson back early on, I think Kevin [Feige] talked about this publicly. But it was ruled out fairly early on and we've already got Vision from the back and so Agatha is bringing Pietro into this world, fake Pietro, into this world to further her agenda. And so having that be a recast Pietro worked on our meta-level, but it also made sense thematically when we were talking about grief, which is that grief clouds your judgment, you're willing to believe things you wouldn't. You're living in this fantasy of, 'If this is my brother, even though I don't know or feel that he's my brother, I'm willing to accept it because I miss him so much.'"

Even though he looks and acts nothing like his comic book counterpart, I've always preferred Evan's take on the Marvel speedster because he brought so much fun and energy to the character. To Taylor-Johnson's defense, his version of Quicksilver wasn't given that much time to shine and I feel like the character was poorly-written. But honestly, if I were to choose, I'd rather see Evan stick around in the MCU because I liked his dynamic with Elizabeth Olsen in WandaVision but hey, that's just me.
