Man of Steel actor Henry Cavill is already no stranger to taking on fantasy roles and quite frankly, he's been a pretty reliable actor, just look at his stellar performances as Clark Kent aka Superman in the DC Extended Universe and Geralt of Rivia in the hit Netflix series The Witcher.

But what if I told you that long before he got a shot to play the aforementioned characters, he was once considered to make his fantasy film debut as a vampire? Yup, you heard that right! It's an interesting bit of information that a lot of us are only learning now but Cavill was actually the top choice to play Edward Cullen in the successful Twilight saga.

This comes straight from author Stephenie Meyer who said in a 2018 interview that she once had her sights set on the Superman actor for the coveted role. "The only actor I've ever seen who I think could come close to pulling off Edward Cullen is.... (drumroll).... Henry Cavill." Now that's quite the endorsement right there.

We're not quite sure if Cavill even auditioned for the part but as it turns out, Meyer's plans didn't come to fruition and the role was played by Robert Pattison over the course of the Twilight saga which kicked off in 2018. Thinking about it now, I believe Henry would've been an odd choice to play Edward but I guess I've just really gotten used to seeing Pattinson in the role.

Speaking of RPatz, The Batman is scheduled for release in 2022.
