Thor 4: Christian Bale Looks Menacing as Gorr the God Butcher in Leaked Set Photos

Christian Bale will always be Batman in the eyes of superhero and comic book film fans and while he did exceptional work as the caped crusader in Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight trilogy, that doesn't mean that the decorated actor no longer has the ability to deliver a captivating performance in another comic book-centric project. This is why Bale has signed on to star in Marvel Studios' Thor: Love and Thunder much to the shock of his avid fans.

Earlier rumors claimed that the British actor will be playing iconic Marvel character Beta Ray Bill in the Thorquel but it was later announced that he'll be turning to the dark side for the highly anticipated project, portraying Gorr the God Butcher. Now, as additional photography for the film has commenced, set photos from Love and Thunder have already leaked online and it sees Bale as the menacing villain.

And in true "Christian Bale" fashion, the actor has once again undergone a drastic transformation for the role. Apparently, Bale will be covered in prosthetics and he looks totally menacing. Check out the images here:

As it stands, we still don't know the extent of Christian's involvement in the film but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Gorr the God Butcher will not be treated as just another expendable Marvel Cinematic Universe villain much like all the huge villains that have come before him. I'm confident enough that Kevin Feige and his crew will not waste this casting and they'd be foolish to give Bale a role that wouldn't leave a mark.

Thor: Love and Thunder will hit cinemas on May 6, 2022.
