Fans have long been clamoring for Marvel Studios to bring in characters like The Defenders and The Punisher to the Marvel Cinematic Universe but not a lot of people are aware that the rights to the characters have been with Netflix for the longest time. Last year, Daredevil was finally "freed" and the rights to the character have reverted back to Marvel.

Now, two familiar faces are joining Matt Murdock in the MCU as the live-action rights to the Frank Castle and Jessica Jones characters have also returned to Marvel Studios. This of course means that the studio can now make use of the said characters and officially insert them into the MCU canon.

As it stands, there's no word yet if Kevin Feige intends to use the characters but rumors have been swirling for months now that Matt Murdock aka Daredevil will be featured in Spider-Man 3 serving as Peter Parker's lawyer.

Other rumors also suggest that Feige is looking to reboot The Punisher while keeping actor Jon Bernthal on board. As for Jessica Jones, while there's no update on whether the studio is interested in using the character or not, it's safe to assume that they're just probably waiting to get the rights back for other Defenders members Luke Cage and Iron Fist.

I don't know about you but I'm totally stoked to see Frank Castle and possibly the Defenders in the MCU. It's not like the franchise is in need of fresh new characters at the moment, considering they'll be bringing in the Fantastic Four and the X-Men but still, they would be a welcome addition to the franchise.

Meanwhile, Marvel's Netflix-exclusive shows are still part of the streaming service's library.
