The Matrix franchise is set to be revisited after 18 years and shockingly enough, the successful science fiction series will be picking up where The Matrix Revolutions left off with Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss returning to reprise their roles as Neo and Trinity respectively.
Now, you may not remember this at all and I won't blame you because it's been close to two decades since the last film came out but both Neo and Trinity died during the closing moments of Revolutions and it comes as a huge surprise how they're both returning to where it all began. Obviously, there's a reason why they're making a comeback and I'm sure everything will be addressed in the upcoming The Matrix 4 but that didn't stop people from feeling a bit baffled with what's going on and that includes actress Gina Torres who starred in the last two films as Cas.
In a recent appearance on iHeartRadio's The Big Ticket podcast, Torres shared her confusion regarding Reeves and Moss' respective returns. When asked about The Matrix 4, she said: "Not to be bitter or anything, but the people that are actually in the movie, I believe died. And the people that aren’t didn’t. So that’s all I have to say about that. I’m so curious about where they’re going with this. And what’s their jumping-off point and what story they want because it just felt like they told it."
Now, her statement pretty much confirms that a return for her character isn't exactly on the table right now. Interestingly, Torres' former flame Laurence Fishburne who portrayed the iconic Morpheus in the franchise is also not attached to the fourth Matrix film. There have been rumors of him getting recast with a younger actor but that has yet to be confirmed. What do you think? How could they explain the sudden resurrection of Neo and Trinity?
The Matrix 4 wrapped up filming last December.
