There's no stopping the Korean invasion in the Western entertainment scene and with the immense craze surrounding K-culture in general, it's no longer surprising how Marvel Studios is also capitalizing on it big time. We reported last June that one of K-Drama's biggest stars Park Seo-Joon is rumored to be heading to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the upcoming Captain Marvel sequel headlined by Brie Larson.
Initially, Seo-joon's agency Awesome ENT declined to comment regarding the rumored casting but in a stunning turn of events, the Korea-based management finally confirmed that the star of Itaewon Class is indeed one of the MCU's latest acquisitions. The Korea Times is reporting that the 32-year-old star has officially announced his involvement in the project as per his agency.
As it stands, we still know very little about his casting in the sequel titled The Marvels but there have been rumblings all over the Internet that he'll be playing the role of Amadeus Cho in the film. For the uninitiated, Amadeus is a Korean-American scientist who transforms into a version of The Hulk called Brawn. To those wondering how the Korean native would fare in the franchise mostly dominated by English-speaking actors, Seo-joon, to his credit is actually fluent in the language so the language barrier shouldn't be an issue in case some of you are worried. Meanwhile, it will be interesting to see if Marvel Studios will keep details about his role under wraps or if they'll actually reveal it in the coming weeks especially now that The Marvels is currently in production. Hopefully, he'll be given a substantial role and not just a cameo as it would be cool to see him as a Marvel hero.
The Marvels is scheduled to hit cinemas in 2022.
