The Mandalorian Star Katee Sackhoff Addresses Absence of Co-Star in Season 2 Finale

The Mandalorian's second season closed out in the grandest and most epic way possible and over a month after its release, a lot of Star Wars fans are still raving about it, and understandably so. Leading up to Grogu's rescue, Din Djarin assembled an elite team that would help him hijack Moff Gideon's light cruiser.

Mando's team consisted of Cara Dune, Boba Fett, Fennec Shand, Koska Reeves, and Bo-Katan Kryze. Interestingly, the third member of Kryze's pack Axe Woves (played by Simon Kassianides) was missing from the finale and it was never addressed why he wasn't part of the mission considering he works closely with the two.

Now, actress Katee Sackhoff is sounding off to explain the character being written off the finale and she has the simplest answer regarding Woves' unfortunate absence. In a recent conversation with Kristian Harloff on the Sith Council podcast, Sackhoff said: "He just wasn't there, he just wasn't there. And there's a reason and it's just one of those things where I don't know if that story is something I'm supposed to tell, so he just wasn't there."

To be fair, Kassiandes wasn't the only person left out of the second season's final episode. Fans were also hoping to see Timothy Olyphant's Cobb Vanth make a surprise return to help Mando even the odds but sadly, he didn't make an appearance. However, considering the hit Disney+ show is still expected to run for a couple more seasons, expect guys like Woves and Vanth to make their way back to the show and hopefully get more prominent roles.

All episodes of The Mandalorian are available on Disney+.
