We still don't know what goes down exactly in The Mandalorian Season 3 but fans were at least given an idea of things to expect when the hit Star Wars spin-off series returns next year. Season 2's jaw-dropping finale pretty much hinted that the central focus of the upcoming third season will be the possible showdown between Din Djarin and Bo-Katan Kryze over the Mandalore throne. Season 3 could also potentially mark the absence of Baby Yoda who is currently mastering the Force.

Season 2 was notable for featuring appearances from characters like Bo-Katan Kryze and Ahsoka Tano, as well as the returning Boba Fett and Luke Skywalker who made his splashing comeback in the finale to save Mando and his crew against the dark troopers. Of course, this begs the question: could other existing characters from the Star Wars franchise pre-sequel trilogy era make their way to the Mandoverse?

As it turns out, the answer could be yes and according to a new exciting rumor, The Mandalorian Season 3 will mark the return of fan-favorite creatures to the franchise. According to a scoop from the Bespin Bulletin, a group of Wookies will appear in the third season. While they exactly didn't go into detail about it, considering Chewbacca is still alive following the events of Return of the Jedi, it's safe to assume that he could actually turn up in the series along with other Wookies.

If the rumors end up being true, it would be the perfect opportunity to give Chewbacca and the Wookies for that matter a better story arc and present them in such a way other Star Wars projects failed to do. Let's face it, as iconic as Wookies are, they have always been presented as side characters and right-hand creatures at best. Hopefully, The Mandalorian treats them better.

The Mandalorian Season 3 is expected to begin production this month.
